LOS ANGELES, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Dodgers rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat the San Francisco Giants 8-6 on Tuesday night in the second game of a crucial series between NL West rivals. Pinch-hitter Will Smith hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning, and the Dodgers beat the Giants 8-6 in the second game of a pivotal series between NL West rivals.

Tyler Rogers (1-1) issued walks to Chris Taylor and Matt Beaty before Smith blasted a 0-1 slider into the left-field bleachers for his third walk-off home run of the season. Los Angeles tied the four-game series at one each and closed the gap on the first-place Giants to one game.

Los Angeles fell down 6-1 in the fifth inning in a contest that featured seven home runs. Taylor sparked the comeback with his third career multi-homer game. During a three-run sixth, he blasted a solo shot off Alex Wood and a two-run drive against John Brebbia.
San Francisco’s Alex Dickerson and Mike Yastrzemski both hit two-run homers. The Giants added single blasts from LaMonte Wade Jr. and Thairo Estrada, who lead the majors in home runs (142) and the percentage of runs scored by hitting the long ball (52.9 percent ).
The victory went to Jimmie Sherfy (2-0).
With the infield pulled in, the Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single up the middle by Max Muncy.
In the second, the Giants responded immediately. After Wilmer Flores led off the inning with a double off the center-field wall, Dickerson smacked a Darien Nez changeup into the right-field bleachers to take a 2-1 lead.
Josiah Gray, who was making his big league debut, hit the other three home runs for San Francisco. On the ninth pitch of his major league career, Wade, the second hitter Gray saw, greeted him with a single home run to right field in the third inning.
Estrada, who was filling in for injured All-Star shortstop Brandon Crawford, hit a solo home run to center field on the opening pitch of the fifth inning. With a two-run shot to right, Yastrzemski increased the Giants’ advantage to 6-1.

Wood was a little inconsistent with three hit batters, allowing three runs and six hits in five innings. Two of them, Justin Turner (bruised left knee) and Muncy (bruised right shoulder), were forced to leave the game.
Before turning to Gray, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts opted to start Nez. In two innings, Nez gave up two runs on two hits. Gray pitched four innings and struck out seven batters, although he was charged with four runs and four hits.
In the second inning, Dodgers right fielder Zach McKinstry made a diving grab to rob Donovan Solano of a single.
