Welcome to the Daily Fantasy Basketball Notes for Friday. Here, we will be providing you with all of you daily fantasy basketball notes and tidbits that could help get you into that sweet cash game line-up. The nightcap slate features a number of favorable matchups on both ends of the floor, so there should be plenty to like in this evening’s contests.,

The “is kcp playing tonight” is a question that has been asked many times. The answer to the question is yes, he will be playing tonight.

With a victory against the Atlanta Hawks on Thursday, the Washington Wizards improved to 4-1, marking the first time the franchise has started a season this well through five games since the 2014-15 season. With his third career game of at least 25 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, Montrezl Harrell was a fantasy powerhouse once again.

While Harrell has been outstanding and Bradley Beal had a season-high 27 points in the win against Atlanta, fantasy managers should pay more attention to forward Kyle Kuzma. Kuzma now has at least eight rebounds in every game this season, and he’s averaging a career-high 11.0 rebounds per game.

Kuzma’s rebounding doesn’t seem to be a fluke, as he ranks 23rd in the NBA with 16.8 rebounding chances per game, a tracking measure defined by the league as the closest player to the ball at any point in time between when the ball has crossed below the rim and when it is completely rebounded.

Kuzma is projected to average a double-double in his first season with the Wizards, according to 75.1 percent of ESPN leagues.

Highlights

Atlanta Hawks’ John Collins had 28 points (14-16 FG), 12 rebounds, and three assists.

Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid: 30 points (8-19 FG), 18 rebounds, and 3 assists

Lowlights

Utah Jazz’s Mike Conley had 6 points (2-7 FG), 2 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Isaiah Stewart (Detroit Pistons) scored 4 points (2-5 FG), grabbed 3 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists.

Takeaways for Thursday

  • Tyrese Maxey has been a valuable contributor for the Sixers in Ben Simmons’ absence. In a victory against Detroit, the second-year guard had 16 points, a dozen combined rebounds and assists, and led the club in plus-minus rating. Maxey, who is only in 18.5 percent of ESPN leagues, is beginning to emerge as a facilitator as a result of his increased playing time; he leads Philadelphia with 54.8 passes per game. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid finally put up a big number, matching Anthony Davis for second in the NBA with 30 points and 15 rebounds in the last five seasons.

  • For the second consecutive season, Detroit is winless after four games, but second-year wing Saddiq Bey is showing signs of improvement. The Villanova product scored a team-high 19 points and has increased his rebounding to 9.5 per game this season, owing in part, like Kuzma, to an increase in rebounding opportunities.

  • After blowing a 20-point lead against the Mavericks, the Spurs fell to 1-4 on the season, matching their worst five-game start under Gregg Popovich. Dejounte Murray has thrived as a fantasy option now that DeMar DeRozan’s high-usage game has moved to Chicago; he scored a season-high 23 points in the defeat and ended two assists short of a triple-double. Murray now has two games this season with at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, tying his career high of three such games in a season.

  • Even though Houston lost to Utah, rookie center Alperen Sengun achieved career highs in minutes and points (14). In fantasy leagues with 12 teams or less, his playing time isn’t quite there yet, but the fact that he’s sixth in the league in total thefts and 179th in minutes played is fascinating.

  • It’s time to think about adding Desmond Bane to your roster (s). Thanks to a significant increase in output from beyond the arc, the second-year shooting guard is tied for sixth in made 3-pointers. Bane, who was one of the finest college shooters during his time at TCU, has a lifetime shooting percentage of 42.9 percent in the pros and is maintaining excellent efficiency (41.5 percent) while almost tripling his per-game production this season. He’s unlikely to average more over 20 points per game all season, but his great steal and assist rates help him become more than just a shooter.

Notable injuries

  • P.J. Washington of Charlotte is designated as questionable for Friday’s game against Miami. With an ankle issue that has hampered him to start the season, Terry Rozier is labeled as doubtful.

  • Norman Powell of Portland has been upgraded to doubtful due to a knee injury, but the sharpshooting winger seems to be on the mend.

  • Malcolm Brogdon of Indiana has been declared out of the team’s game against Miami this evening. However, Caris LeVert’s season debut may be on the way, as he is classified as doubtful with back pain.

Friday’s analytics edge

Dallas is in Denver for the second night of a back-to-back. Jalen Brunson might be a good plug-and-play option for fantasy managers. The guard has reached double digits in three of his last four games and has a career-high assist percentage of 35.8%, which refers to the percentage of teammate field goals a player helped on while on the court.

Brunson is a good streaming option with Jason Kidd raising his playmaking responsibilities and Denver allowing 51.2 DraftKings points per game to point guards. He’s only in 9.6 percent of ESPN lineups.

Discussion on DFS

Indiana Pacers’ Myles Turner: Turner is a good shot-blocker with a high fantasy potential — as seen by his 65 DraftKings points in the season’s second game — and a low floor, having already had many games below 20 fantasy points. The Nets’ smaller and older frontcourt, as well as the fact that they rank 28th in rebounding percentage this season, are the selling points for this evening.

Toronto Raptors’ Fred VanVleet: VanVleet, who can be had at a discount from the top price tier tonight, has genuine scoring and playmaking potential against an Orlando squad that allows the eighth-most DraftKings points per game to shooting guards.

The “kuzma vs clippers” is a matchup that will take place on Friday. The game will be broadcasted by ESPN at 8:00 PM EST.
