It took me seven years to complete my first novel and publish it.

 

I always had the gift of the gab. I am an avid reader and growing up I was a book worm. These novels opened up my mind and taught me many things. I owe these authors so much. I use these skills everyday more than what I learned at college. I won essay competitions in school but never went down the literary path. The dream to write and share my stories got lost in the shuffle of life, work, kids, hearth and home.

 

I made the time and prioritized my goal.

 

I started penning my first fiction novel and shelved it. A turning point came when I took a sabbatical of 6 weeks from work and I dusted off the manuscript and made a vow to complete it what may come. I set daily page goals and finally completed my first work. I was so proud and it took me six months after that to find an agency to publish it. I took a year to complete my second non fiction novel which I self published in one day! That is a recipe for success! I somehow self learnt, self motivated, took a UC Berkeley course on self editing and self published my part memoir all on my own.
